Whether you’re a long-time partner or just getting to know us, there’s one thing you should know about the Redbackers: we’re a competitive bunch. Not just with each other (you should see us at our annual retreats), but in our drive to deliver world-class digital work that actually moves the needle for our clients.
Today, that drive has led to a moment we’re incredibly proud of. The finalists for the 2026 Australian Web Awards (AWAs) have been announced, and we have managed to secure a staggering 22 finalist spots – a national record. This is the highest number of finalist spots ever awarded to a single agency in the history of the AWAs.
More than just “pretty” websites
Since 1999, we’ve been focussed on building more than just “pretty” sites; we build high-performing digital assets that solve problems for our clients and their audiences. Looking at this year’s incredibly impressive list of AWA finalists, it’s clear that the judges agree.
Our 22 finalist spots span a broad range of industries – from science and sustainability to construction, retail, and government. It’s a testament to our team’s ability to dive deep into a client’s world and create something that is as functional as it is beautiful.
The 2026 Finalist Roll Call
We share these nominations with 10 incredible clients who trust us to push boundaries. Here is the work that’s up for a “gong” this year:

What’s next?
Last year, we walked away with 3 wins from 11 finalist spots. This year, with 22 shots at the title, we’re feeling the pressure (the good kind!).
Win or lose, being recognised on this scale is a huge pat on the back for our 30-strong team of developers, designers, and marketers across our HQ in Newcastle and beyond. It proves that you don’t need to be based in a CBD skyscraper to produce Australia’s best digital work.
Stay tuned for the winners’ announcements at this year’s Australian Web Awards night in Adelaide on May 23. We’ll be the ones in the front row, probably making a bit too much noise.
